Getting started
How do I sign up for Njangy?▾
Download the app from the App Store or Google Play, enter your phone number, and complete identity verification via Veriff (document scan + selfie). The whole process takes about two minutes.
What countries is Njangy available in?▾
Njangy is designed to serve any community practicing rotating savings worldwide. Specific country availability depends on payment rail support, check the app for the current list.
What does "ROSCA" mean?▾
ROSCA stands for Rotating Savings and Credit Association. It's the formal name for the tradition you may know as njangi, chama, stokvel, tanda, hui, arisan, paluwagan, sou-sou, or any of 26+ other local names.
Houses / ROSCA
How do I create a house?▾
Go to the Houses tab, tap "New house", set your contribution amount, frequency, and member rotation order. Then invite members by phone number. Each invited member must complete identity verification before joining.
Can I swap my turn with another member?▾
Yes. The Swaps feature lets members trade positions in the rotation. Both parties negotiate and approve the swap in-app, and the house sees the full audit trail of the exchange.
What happens if a member misses a contribution?▾
Njangy sends automatic reminders, applies a configurable late fee, and notifies the coordinator. Chronic missed payments can trigger removal per house rules set by the coordinator.
Savings
How are personal savings different from a house?▾
A personal savings goal is just you, a target amount, a deadline, a contribution schedule. A house is a group rotating pool. You can have any number of each.
What happens if I miss a scheduled contribution to my goal?▾
A small penalty is added to keep you on track. The penalty percentage is shown before you create the goal, and you can adjust the schedule if needed.
Loans
Who approves loans on Njangy?▾
Loans are either approved by the members of your house (for circle-sourced loans) or by Njangy directly once you meet eligibility criteria based on your contribution history.
How are interest rates set?▾
Circle-sourced loan rates are negotiated between you and your house. Platform loan rates are set by Njangy and depend on your contribution history and loan term. You see the rate, term, and total cost before you accept.
Sponsorships
What's the difference between targeted support, emergency support, and GLS?▾
Targeted support is a private request to one trusted person for a specific payment. Emergency support is a public pool where anyone can contribute to an urgent need. General Life Support (GLS) is a recurring sponsorship commitment for long-term needs like tuition or medication.
What happens if a GLS sponsor misses payments?▾
Three consecutive missed payments end the sponsorship commitment. The recipient is notified and can open the request to new sponsors.
Raffles
How are raffle winners chosen?▾
Every winner is selected using certified random.org entropy, not in-house RNG. You can verify the draw in-app and externally using the published draw receipt.
Where does the prize money come from?▾
The stakes paid by entrants form the prize pool, minus a small platform commission. The winnings come from the community, not from Njangy.
Payments
What payment methods does Njangy support?▾
PayPal, MTN Mobile Money, Orange Money, Visa, Mastercard, and Apple Pay, with more regional rails added over time.
Does Njangy ever hold my money?▾
No. Funds move directly through the payment rails listed above. Njangy coordinates the movement but never holds balances on its own books.
Security & verification
Why do I need to verify my identity?▾
Identity verification via Veriff is how Njangy keeps bad actors out of circles and complies with financial regulations globally. Every member must verify before joining a house or receiving any payout.
Can members of one house see another house's data?▾
No. Postgres row-level security ensures every query is scoped to the caller's own houses. Your circle's business is only visible to your circle.
Fees & commissions
How does Njangy make money?▾
Small registration fees for joining houses, a percentage-based commission on collections and savings, and payment processing fees. Every fee is disclosed in-app before you commit.
What's the emergency support commission?▾
A 10% platform commission is deducted from the total paid out to the recipient of an emergency support pool. This is shown before anyone contributes.
Account
How do I delete my account?▾
Go to Profile → Account settings → Delete account. You must first complete or exit any active houses, savings goals, sponsorships, and loans. Deletion is permanent.
I lost access to my phone number, what now?▾
Email support@njangy.com with your registered email and we'll walk you through recovery. Identity re-verification via Veriff will be required.
